Olga Galkina , President of Samovar Internet Consulting, has been a leader in NIS networking since electronic mail was only just beginning to appear in the region. From 1993-September 1996 she served as co-director of Internet programs in the Moscow office of the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) and is the author of IREX's Russian-language FAQ about the NIS Internet.
From 1991-1993, Ms. Galkina was head of telecommunications at the Institute for New Technologies in Education, where she worked to connect schools to computer networks in Russia. She also served for 3 years as the NIS field coordinator for the East West Educational Development Foundation, a Boston-based charity which distributes used computer equipment worldwide. She is a graduate of Moscow State University, where she completed coursework for a kandidat nauk degree in mathematics. |
